25th July 2023 Hiking - Walking: Orwell County Park Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: Distance Covered: Friday 25th August – bike **** Orwell Country Park near Ipswich – sunny periods. I needed to go to Sports Direct in Ipswich as my one pair of summer shoes are nearing the end of their life plus I needed some decking screws so after doing my exercises in the garden with only brief glimpses of sunshine I packed a picnic and we drove to Ipswich. Screws purchased from Homebase although Mag was disappointed by how expensive the plants were and Sports Direct let us down once again with no sandals:( So enough of the crowds we headed over to Orwell Country Park and decided to walk the opposite way round, over the bridge and take the path by the very noisy A 14 towards the Orwell Bridge with more sunshine now:) We walk past the small holding with many chickens laying in the hot dusty ground! Down by the River Orwell with the tide really low we quickly find a nice spot in the shade to enjoy our picnic lunch watching several yachts on the water and a combine working on the far bank! We then amble along the foreshore; we find a discarded sack which we pick up and then fill it up with rubbish. Turning inland we take the lovely path through the woods back to the van before taking the back lanes through Levington to Felixstowe. Once again the breeze had picked up enough to foil but it was too late in the day to be bothered and not much wind in the forecast either:( We have a bank holiday weekend now and will do our best to avoid the crowds!
